Pier 14 was acquired in 1949 and was reconstructed and reduced in width for shipyard use and called Pier 5. Photo looking east towards the Hudson River was taken by Davis Studios Note the new pier head is complete. The repair garage building is at the right below drydock no. 4. The base of gantry crane is seen at the right. Two derrick barges are still at work. The moored vessels and the one in the drydock are unidentified.
