Book
Lloyd's Index of War-Built Vessels 1940-1945. Second Edition, October 1967. Printed and published by the Corporation of Lloyd's at Lloyds, London, England. 8vo softcover. pp. 68.
Stated on title: "This index lists merchant vessels of over 1,000 tons gross which were built in the period of 1940 to 1945 and are still in existence."
The list has the present name and flag, original name, tons gross, year & country of build, type and remarks. It includes a great many ships built in the United States for World War II service including Liberty and Victory ships. A few listed ships have remarks that include work done on them at Hoboken, N.J. such as on page 32 (imaged) for the "Inger." It does not record which specific Hoboken yard - Bethlehem Steel or Todd Shipyards. Note that there a some remarks that mention Hoboken, Belgium.
Ships are listed alphabetically by present name. The original name is not cross referenced alphabetically, so that a search by the original name only is time-consuming. Note also that a great many of these ships at the time of this edition were in the U.S. Reserve.
