Sepia-tone photo of the Board Room of the Hoboken Bank for Savings, Hoboken, Feb. 2, 1894. 6" high x 8" wide on 10" x 12" photographers mount. The man at the head of the board table is not identified. Photograph by O. Muller of N.Y. City. Holographic ink caption with date on mount. The print is mounted slightly askew on the board.
The bank was established in 1857, but the building that this photo was taken in was built in 1890. It is at the southwest corner of Washington and Newark Sts.
Dated photographs may not be uncommon, but dated and timed photographs are. The owner's inscription on the back notes: Property of Mr. Schultz | Taken Feby 2/94 | 12:19 PM. See 2002.135.0002 for a similar view of this room a few years later when the gas lighting had been converted to electric.
