Cocomalt Flying Family Jig-Saw Puzzle issued by R.B. Davis Company, Hoboken, N.J., copyright 1932. Puzzle issued with printed envelope. Puzzle, 6-5/8" wide x 10" high, 65 pieces printed in color and die-cut as typical for jig-saw puzzles; brown paper envelope printed in dark brown and orange slightly larger than puzzle.
The promotional item that was free with every can of Cocomalt. (Cocomalt was the sponsor of a radio program called "The Flying Family.") The puzzle features a map of the western United States with the real Hutchinson family who made this trip in 1927 - 1928 [George R. Hutchinson, wife Blanche, children Kathryn and Janet Lee] flying to various cities in all 48 states. From the description, it would appear there was a comparable puzzle for the eastern United States. Puzzle is copyrighted R.B. Davis Company, Hoboken, N.J. 1932; enveloped is dated R.B. Davis Company, Hoboken, N.J.1932 (hidden under flap.)
