The Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad Company. Car Department. Classification of Freight Equipment. Corrected to May 1, 1952. Reprint edition, Erie Lackawanna Historical Society, Inc., May 1992. Oblong softcover album (post binding), 4-1/2" high x 11-1/4" wide, unpaginated, ca. 100 leaves. Reprints of technical diagrams and specification sheets of various types of freight cars and rolling stock including work cars. An index at the front lists the cars by general kinds with there series (or road numbers) along with Association of American Railroad (A.A.R.) classifications and classes. (List of sheet titles is in notes. The sheets state the number of each car in service as of 1952. Many of the sheets near the back are for company work cars such as cranes, snowplows, bunk cars, etc (typical maintence of way equipment) and quantities are not stated in that group. Quality of images is good with only a couple that are difficult to read due to the defective condition of the originals used to prepare this volume. While Hoboken was the location of the Lackawanna Terminal which was primarily for passenger service, some freight was handled in the yard, and some equipment would have been seen in Hoboken. (Most went to D.L.& W.'s Jersey City freight yard and warehouses.) Where the original drawings were produced is not stated.
