Object/Artifact
Fixed head t-square, model 8815, 42", made by Keuffel & Esser Co., New York & Hoboken, no date, circa 1940-1945? Pearwood, 42" long (44-3/4" overall) with 13" wide head; head secured to blade with 5 brass screws. Blind stamped on top circa 6" from head: K & E Star Quality [around star logo], 8815, 42.
A typical plain model used in drafting and drawing table work. This model number has not been found in catalogues or price lists. It is speculated that it was a temporary number used during World War II for a product that was a substitute for regular products due to wartime materials and production restrictions.
K&E had their main office and factories in Hoboken at the time this product was produced.
