Object/Artifact
Engineers Wyteface folding pocket rule 90-2020 made by the Keuffel & Esser Co., New York & Hoboken, circa 1960-1965. Painted wood with metal pivot brackets, 5/8" wide x circa 7-3/8" long closed; opens to 72" long; closed 1-5/8" thick.
This item has the general appearance of what is commonly considered a traditional carpenter's folding rule. It has been customized for the engineering profession with a different scale on each side.
One side is marked in tenths and hundreths of foot. It has a broken red line running the length of it to distinguish it from the other side which is marked in English measure by feet, inches and sixteenths.
While the date of this item has not been fully established, it is probable that it was made by K&E when its main offices and factory were in Hoboken.
