THE editors and staff of the Erie - Lackawanna Magazine take this opportunity — the first issue under the new name — to greet their many new friends who have joined their readership because of the merger of two great railroads into a new and greater one.
Among these new readers, of course, are the 6,500 men and women who worked for the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western; the members of their families; retired employes; and the thousands of friends of the Lackawanna who formerly received the Lackawanna Newsletter.
As those Erie-Lackawanna employes who worked for the Erie already know, the magazine is the oldest employe magazine in the railroad field. Now in its 56th year, it appears every month of the year, and is distributed to all active and to all retired employes, to interested shippers and other friends of the railroad. It has always been its purpose to he a source of reliable and objective information about the railroad and the activities of its employes.
Here at the magazine we are very proud and happy about our enlarged family. We hope you’ll like the magazine. It is edited with all Erie-Lackawanna employes in mind. The editors will welcome any suggestions our readers may have to make the magazine more interesting and informative.
