Greyscale Illustration of 'Pier Platters' by Kevin McCloskey, circa 1986
Drawing
Highly detailed illustration of 'Pier Platters,' a record store in Hoboken, NJ which opened in 1982 by Bill Ryan and Thomas Prendergast. This can be found on pg. 35 of 'Walking Around Hoboken'.
Located on 56 Newark St., this illustration features a lively day at the record store---as several customers browse what the shop has to offer.
A T-Shirt from 'The Bongo's' hangs from the ceiling, and vinyls from household names adorn the shelves. Names such as Van Morrison, Elvis Presley, Pink Floyd, Prince, etc, scatter the page. There is some light blue that works to define the hair of a woman shuffling through the records, as well as some shading on the upper-left-hand side of the work.
