Photograph
Digital image of photo of the Hoboken Playgrounds Field Band marching on Washington St., Hoboken, no date, circa 1940. Original image was ca. 4-1/2" wide x 2-3/4" high. Plus the black-and-white 70 mm nitrate negative of the same size as the print thus the print is possibly a contact print. Photographer not indicated (print made by the People's Studio.) Reverse has ink stamped processor's number: 29; also pencil notation "No good." People are not identified.
The parade was probably the Decoration (Memorial) Day parade in late May. Barely visible at the cross street corner, probably Fourth St., (just left of and slightly above center) is an advertising clock that was for Kramer's Jewelers which was at 514 Washington St.; it is probable that they are in the 500 block of Washington St. At the same corner behind the clock is store signage for Duffy's Rugs. cf. photo catalog 2005.078.0533 for similar and clearer view of this scene.
