U.S. Army soldier's helmet, commonly called a "doughboy" helmet, reputedly from World War I. No date, circa 1910-1940. Metal, painted finish, 11-1/4" x 12-1/4" oval; with felt riveted to inside top with printed instruction riveted to felt; original strap not present.
While the style was indeed used in World War I, it was a style used for several decades and has no markings indicating maker, model or date. Although from a Hoboken source, it is unknown if this helmet was worn by a Hoboken soldier in World War I.
