Erie-Lackawanna Railroad. 1960 Annual Report with Statistical Tables. Booklet, 8-1/8" wide x 10-1/2" high, 36 pp. including covers. PDF on file.
This is the first annual report, dated February 21, 1961, covering the year when the Erie Railroad and Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad completed their merger (effective October 17, 1960.)
The report is relevant to Hoboken because the Lackawanna Terminal (now officially the Erie-Lackawanna) was the eastern rail terminus for passenger operations of the new railroad company. Since 1956, the Erie had been transferring operations from its Jersey City terminal to Hoboken. At both terminals, transportation for trips listed as New York required ferry travel or riding the Hudson & Manhattan Railroad (which became the PATH system in 1962.) Combining passenger service in Hoboken was a significant savings in facilities and personnel.
