Compensating polar planimeter, model 62 0000, sold by the Keuffel & Esser Co. (either N.Y., or Morristown, N.J.), no date, circa 1962-1970. Direct reading instrument in English measure made in Germany (marked "K&E Germany"on fixed arm), serial number 70 710. Wood box, 9" x 3-1/4" x 2" high, covered in green cloth with hinged lid; K&E logo stamped on top; fitted interior lined with green felt in base and green velveteen with padding in lid; printed label inside lid with model and serial numbers as well as technical text. Includes two-piece instrument and test rule. Not present: instruction book.
K+E general offices and factory were in Hoboken up to 1967 and in Morristown, N.J. after that year. Although the product itself was not made in Hoboken, it is typical of the many imported products that would have been stocked, packaged and shipped from Hoboken.
Model 62 0000 was formerly model 4236 (from 1956 to 1962 K+E changed from four digits to six digit product numbers.)
