Steel eraser made by Keuffel & Esser Co., Hoboken, N.J., no date, circa 1920s-1930s.
Bakelite or celluloid handle with long steel blade; overall 7" long. Marked on blade: K&E Co. Germany.
No product number appears on item. It corresponds to model 3480 and 3481 depicted in catalogs of the period. It is an eraser for "erasing" (scraping) ink from paper; end tapers to a flattened edge for use as a burnisher.
3480 is described as bone handle which this is not; 3481 has a "Coco" handle which is not described further and unknown to us if this was "coconut" or a plastic simulation of the same.
