Menu keepsake: Dinner honoring Sam Wood, Jr. on his 25th Anniversary at Keuffel & Esser Company, May 15, 1938. Union Club, Hoboken. Printed menu with photo, cardstock, 4-3/8" x 7" high.
Although not identified on the card, the man is Sam Wood, Jr., a K&E manager who started on September 3, 1913. (He was identfied from his photo in an issue of The Kecoscope, Spring 1963 - archives 2010.012.0003, pg 3 - where he is seen at his fiftieth anniversary with the company.)
The event was the typical banquet honoring long-time employees of 25 years or more. This ceremony inducted them into a company organization called the 'Old Guard' and for those celebrating 25 years there were 8 people in 1938. It also honored previously installed members.
The back is blank except for contemporary penciled note: Union Club, Hob.
Whether this souvenir keepsake was done for each new member of the Old Guard has not been established. See archives 2010.007.0247 for another example, Adolph W. Keuffel, from 1939.
